The College Writing Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (depending on qualifications) in the College Writing Program at the FDU Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, New Jersey. FDU is a private, nonprofit Hispanic Serving Institution ( HSI ) of higher education, with two New Jersey campuses, the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck and the Florham Campus in Madison. The Metropolitan Campus is home to a majority-minority student body, including a growing and dynamic Latino community. A number of the writing classes offered on the Metro campus each semester are designed for students in specialized programs in our Hispanic Center, including the Latino Promise program, which provides traditional-age Latino students with personalized support and resources to help ensure academic success from enrollment to graduation. The Metropolitan Campus also has a strong career focus, as it is home to many of FDU’s business, professional, science, and health care programs. Students served by the Writing Program at Metro include both two-year and four-year students as well as both traditional-age undergraduates and adult learners.

Required Qualifications:
Required: Masters in Rhetoric and Composition OR related field; some graduate coursework in composition and rhetoric preferred (e.g., ABD ). Bilingual Spanish-English required. The ideal candidate will have expertise and a record of excellence in teaching writing to Latino students at the undergraduate level. Experience teaching basic writing and experience in writing program administration preferred. Demonstrated ability to mentor minority students and support diversity initiatives preferred. Must be prepared to engage in ongoing professional development and service activities within the Hispanic Center and the College Writing Program. Teaching load of 12 credits per semester; the primary teaching responsibility will be Latino Promise sections of college writing at all levels, and the secondary teaching responsibility will be other sections of college writing, particularly at the basic writing level.
