Immediate opportunity for a Director of Benefits & Compensation to join the Lakehawk team! Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, this positin is is responsible for the strategic development and administration of a comprehensive employee 'total rewards' programs in support of the College’s goals, and the 350 staff that implement our Vision. The primary function of the position is to manage all aspects of the employee benefits program, including, but not limited to health and welfare plans, retirement plans, life insurance, time off, wellness programs and any other employee benefit plans offered by the College. The Director is also responsible for the design, implementation, and management of new and existing compensation and classification systems, oversight of the HRIS (Ellucian Banner) modules, and benefits and retirement programs to enhance the employee experience and work/life balance. The Director of Compensation and Benefits also works closely with the Executive Director of Human Resources to manage, integrate, and execute HR policies, reporting, projects, programs, processes, and initiatives to ensure coherence and application of best practices.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s values of learning, people, student success, forward thinking, commitment to excellence, accessibility, diversity, partnerships, and sound management practices.

Qualifications

EDUCATION : Required :

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Required :

Eight (8) years experience in employee benefit and compensation administration required., f ive (5) years of which were preferably in higher education or government venues.

Prior experience with Florida Retirement System (FRS) or similar pension /retirement plans preferred.

Combination of professional and educational experience will be considered.

Prior supervisory experience required as position supervises 3 FTE.

CERTIFICATION: SHRM, HRCI, CEBS certifications a plus. ( If not current, Human Resources Certification is required within (2) years of employment)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Comprehensive knowledge of the College’s personnel policies and procedures, college benefits and Federal and State regulations pertaining to compensation and benefits.

Ability to effectively collect, analyze, evaluate and prepare compensation and benefit statistical data.

Ability to conduct salary and benefit surveys.

Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheets and database programs.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituents and ability to explain complex compensation and benefit concepts. Proficient written communication skills and excellent inter-personal skills.

Analytical skills and working knowledge of math and statistics.

Technical ability in the use of computerized applications and tools, and ability to learn new software programs.

Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response

Promote a common purpose consistent with stated College goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.

Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.

Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.

Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
