Position Description:
The Temporary Retail Bookstore Associate provides support to the bookstore team during peak periods at the beginning of each semester. This position will provide cross-functional assistance to the textbook department, web order fulfillment, and retail operations team to complete daily activities and projects in the bookstore. This role will work as a member of a team to perform customer service tasks to meet the needs of prospective customers and promote Bookstore sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Customer Service
Greets each customer and provides an excellent customer service experience. Works in the web order department, tech and supplies center, and/or apparel department, as assigned. Assists customers in locating product in the facility or online. Answers questions and provides support to customers during their shopping experience.
Answers phone inquiries, as necessary. Resolving routine problems and directing issues to the correct resolving authority. Communicates effectively with leadership regarding issues and escalates, as necessary.
Financial and Inventory
Conducts sale transactions at a cash register. Maintains a balanced drawer at the register and accurately cash handles. Assists the Bookstore leadership team to ensure product is displayed and/or represented on the sales floor.
Assists with retail floor recovery and stocks books or merchandise, as directed.
Other Duties as Required
Attends all required department meetings and training.
Works a flexible schedule including overtime as required and approved to meet workload demands
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Knowledge of: basic customer service; retail environments; cash-handling
Skill in: verbal and written communication; organization; customer service; conflict resolution; application of job software; performing mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, decimals, percentages and fractions.

Unusual Physical Requirements
Employee regularly stands for extended periods of time and walks. Regular uses hands to lift and reaches with hands or arms. Employee converses verbally with others in person. Vision demands include relatively detailed vision. Employee frequently interacts with customers and employees. Employee climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
