Job Description

Description:

This position is a part of the Fraternity and Sorority Life team which is responsible for advising three Greek Councils including the Multicultural Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, and Panhellenic Council and Order of Omega. This position will directly advise two councils, supervise student leaders and coordinate Greek Life events. In addition, this position will advise the University Council of Student Organizations (UCSO) and serve as an active part of the Student Activities team.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a council adviser, provide guidance and knowledge to the Greek Community. Attend council meetings and council events. Provide training to all council officers and to Greek leaders/members on relevant leadership and Greek community topics. Establish a working professional relationship with Greek officers, members, and chapter advisers. Assist councils in coordinating events and serve as a resource to them. Enforce risk management policies and procedures. Seek, create, and participate in FSL initiatives such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Advise Order of Omega Greek Honor Society- Serve in an advisory capacity, helping to guide the students through academic initiatives, recruitment, and fundraising. Attend all meetings and events, provide training to council officers and group on relevant topics. Assist in the financial management of the Order of Omega Endowment Fund. Participate in and plan the Order of Omega Initiation each semester.
  • Assist with the planning, logistics and facilitation of FSL initiatives such as Greek Retreat Training, events, All-Greek Meetings and Socials and Greek Week. Assist with the Management of the Greek Week Committee and events.
  • Advise the University Council of Student Organizations (UCSO). Supervise, Train, and Hire student officers. Advise and interpret policies for all recognized student organizations. Create, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and programs for student organizations. Assist in management of UCSO budget for student organizations including reimbursements, event allocations and other expenditures from student organizations.
  • Track daily the budget expenditures, i.e.: keep expenses in line with the specified line items, follow all purchasing guidelines and keep track of all expenses. Establish working professional relationships with University faculty and staff, especially in pertinent areas such as Event Planning, UC Operations, and Catering. Administer learning outcome assessments.
  • Establish short and long term goals for each area of responsibility. Work collaboratively with Student Activities staff to provide support and assistance to all programs and activities.
  • Participate on university and departmental committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • One (1) year progressively responsible experience developing and implementing student activities programs.
  • One (1) year full-time or 2 years part-time graduate assistantship for equivalent.
  • Leadership experience in a student organization as an undergraduate or graduate. Membership in and experience leading and/or advising social fraternities or sororities.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, implementing and evaluating small to large scale university events.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating and implementing leadership training for student leaders.
  • Ability to understand and interpret policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Capacity to multi-task complex assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to use technology to accomplish responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, or related field.
  • Experience advising a Greek governing council; Panhellenic (NPC), Interfraternity (IFC), or Multicultural Greek (MGC) Council.
  • Experience supervising student employees and advising student organizations.
  • Knowledge of risk management, experiential learning, assessment techniques, and diversity issues in higher education administration.
  • Proficiency to develop and implement marketing strategies for programs.
  • Ability to identify, develop and promote leadership opportunities for all students.
  • Ability to create and implement a comprehensive calendar of student-centered events.


Pay Range:
  • $36,512 - $41,200
