Position Summary:
Monmouth University seeks an energetic, skilled, and visionary leader to serve as the Interim Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Studies. The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2022 and it will conclude on June 30, 2023. Applications received by July 22, 2022 will receive fullest consideration.

The Interim Dean reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The interim dean provides overall leadership for the school. The ideal candidate will possess an earned doctorate in a health-related academic discipline; record of academic accomplishments, including effective teaching, scholarly activity, and service at a level consistent with the appointment to rank of Professor with tenure. Experience in accreditation processes, state certification rules, regulations, and codes.

The Interim Dean provides fiscal management and advances department and programmatic initiatives, research, curricular innovations, and other activities through securing external funds including fundraising. The Interim Dean facilitates efforts to recruit, develop and retain diverse and highly qualified faculty, and makes recommendations on hiring, tenure, promotion, and faculty reappointment. The interim dean will capitalize on Monmouth's new School of Nursing and Health Studies Simulation Center. The interim dean will also maintain accreditation standards, requirements, and reporting for all programs.

The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies offers programs for individuals at all levels of education and career experience interested in healthcare. Students and professionals can take advantage of the University's health studies, health and physical education, physician assistant, pre-licensure, RN to BSN, RN to MSN, MSN Bridge, RN to MSN Direct, Doctor of Nursing Practice, post-master's and post-baccalaureate certificates, and continuing education programs. The University also offers a Physician Assistant (M.S.) graduate program and a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy degree.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing/master's degree program in nursing/Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Monmouth University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

Other Requirements:
Doctoral degree in one of the School’s disciplines or a related field, e.g., nursing, physician assistant, health and physical education, public health, health studies, occupational therapy.

Three years of demonstrated and successful progressive administrative experience
(e.g., dean, associate dean, department chair, director) in higher education with experience leading undergraduate and graduate programs, and programs with experiential/clinical learning experiences.

Record of academic accomplishments, including effective teaching, scholarly activity, and service at a level consistent with the appointment to rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure. Experience in accreditation processes, state certification rules, regulations, and codes.

Professional license, certification, and licensure-eligible, if appropriate, in field of study. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience mentoring, supporting and collaborating with faculty and students. Experience with undergraduate and graduate program development, and assessment and accreditation reviews. Effective and collegial work experience with other leaders from a range of academic disciplines.

Strong financial and budgetary experience. Experience with interdisciplinary and cross-school, collaborative program building, particularly in providing co-curricular courses for students in health-related programs.

Experience with oversight of academic institutes. Evidence of fostering community engagement and outreach. Awareness of the changing dynamics of national trends in health sciences education, and the health sciences workplace.

Commitment to student professional development and career success. Ability to cultivate a strong leadership team comprised of the Dean’s Office leadership and staff and department chairs and other leaders in the school.
