Job Summary

The DASP (Drexel Autism Support Program) Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support for the DASP program. The DASP Assistant will perform office duties in support of program efforts, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, processing mail, and duplication, receiving, prioritizing, and responding to incoming correspondence, requests, reports and telephone, or email contacts. They will greet students and visitors both in person and on the phone. This position will coordinate admission events and information sessions.

Essential Functions
  • Perform office duties in support of program efforts, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, processing mail, and duplication, receiving, prioritizing, and responding to incoming correspondence, requests, reports and telephone, or email contacts.
  • Organize and maintain schedules, calendars, and appointments including meetings and events and the detailed arrangements associated with such including preparing or providing agendas, minutes, equipment, location, information packets, travel, and follow up action items.
  • Perform complex computer activities including word processing, data processing, scheduling processes and visual and graphic presentations.
  • Establish and maintain files, logs, and other tracking systems for a variety of information, projects, and events; may update website or use social media.
  • Assist with the peer-mentoring program and Neurodragons Student Organization as needed.
  • Assist in promoting DASP (possibly on a few weekends a year) on Drexel’s campus to prospective and new students as needed.
  • All DASP staff assist with the following: planning and convening on and off-campus activities such as the Autism at Work: University Series events, Faculty and Staff Education Series events and working employee breakfasts with the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC).
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 5 years of clerical/secretarial experience; bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency with various computer software applications.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
  • Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities, such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and veterans, including those with different levels of academic preparation, and varying abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher Education Experience with students with disabilities.
