The Events Manager brings small and large groups together to discuss current opportunities and to plan for future ones to create a community of practice dedicated to improving teaming, proposals and award performance within and across Drexel's research enterprise. Working under the direction of the Assistant Vice Provost of Research Development and with team research development members to create a forum to encourage transdisciplinary research, foster collaboration among researchers and create opportunities for great ideas to take shape and flourish. This includes, but is not limited to proposal development workshops, opportunity assessment, design and collaborate on faculty and professional staff development events to increase the quality/quantity of sponsored activities.
Essential Functions
- Facilitate introductions to specific funding opportunities to provide an overview of requirements, advice and lessons learned from experienced faculty, and networking opportunities with other Drexel faculty
- Collaborate with Proposal Development team, Office of Faculty Advancement, and Associate Deans for Research to design, establish, and implement programs and events to help increase the quality, quantity, and competitiveness of proposal submissions
- Collaborate and coordinate with schools/colleges to co-sponsor/share events, consult on event design, and promote events to increase attendance
- Coordinate logistics with vendors, speakers, external/internal presenters for virtual and onsite events
- Coordinate and maintain catalog of external resources the support research development activities such as training, webinars, experts
- Proficient knowledge of instructional technology platforms supported by Drexel Information Technology for the design and delivery of synchronous/asynchronous trainings/workshops/events
- Bachelor’s Degree in Learning & Development, Education, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook; experience in training and development
- Mature approach to relationship building
- Experience human-centered design, instructional methodologies and technologies
- Typically siting at a desk/table
