Job Description:
10 month Federally funded grant position providing outreach to middle/high school students. This position is housed out of Minnesota State University, Mankato with daily travel to area schools and is dedicated to preparing middle and high school students from grant specified target schools in southern Minnesota to pursue post-secondary education. Possible extended summer days.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
• Minimum of one year experience working with target age group through advising, college prep, recreation/camp, youth activity/event coordination, teaching, or other related services..
• Valid U.S. Driver’s license and ability to meet approval rating for fleet vehicles upon hire.
• Criminal background clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Education, Communications, Family Studies, Youth Development or related field.
• Knowledge of developmental needs of age group (middle school through high school).
• Ability to facilitate, manage, implement, and evaluate complex schedules and student services.
• First-hand experience or working knowledge of barriers faced by low-income/first-generation students.
• Strong and positive written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, families, and professionals.
• Knowledge of college, financial aid, admissions, and career programs.
• Experience with various technology resources, computer applications and social media.

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Physical ability to maneuver, set up, and breakdown the recruitment display booth
Lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 45 pounds.
Based on the essential functions of this position, MMB Policy #1422 and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes:

• Mobile Work - A position where the employee travels continuously for work, or who performs work at multiple locations outside of an agency office, such as a field location or other site. Up to 70% of the time. Telework is NOT an option for the remaining time or in connection with the mobile work.

Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet approval rating for fleet vehicles.

Must pass criminal background check.
May occasionally work irregular hours during events.

Requires travel to and from various target schools daily with the use of state vehicle.
