Job Description

These positions will work with the Undergraduate Program(s) Campus Coordinator(s). The clinical placement coordinator will work with multiple clinical sites to coordinate undergraduate student clinical placements. These positions are full-time 12-month appointments. The successful candidates should be licensed registered nurses with strong marketing, recruitment, and administrative skills.

Essential Functions

Hospital Liaison Support - 80%
  • Communicate via email, phone and/or in person with nurse educators and /or placement coordinators in health care facilities to develop clinical placements.
  • Coordinate clinical experiences appropriate to undergraduate curricula. Including, but not limited to, the numbers of student-placements needed at each semester, level and type of experience needed.
  • Represent the School of Nursing at clinical agency planning meetings to negotiate clinical sites as well as community professional meetings and recruitment job fairs.
  • Identify facility requirements at each clinical placement location, such as orientation and Electronic Health Record (EHR) training and communicate these clinical entry requirements to instructors and student groups in a timely manner.
  • Identify, recruit, develop, maintain, and evaluate appropriate practice sites (practicum agency student placement site), and preceptors in accordance with accreditation standards and the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Initiate and maintain clinical site contracts required between the educational institution and the clinical agency and submitting all requisite paperwork to clinical facilities for students participating in clinical rotations.
  • Collaborate with site coordinator and clinical professors to evaluate clinical sites on an annual basis.
  • Sends health records and all other required documents of each student to the placement coordinator/nurse educator at clinical placement facility, on a timely basis, as required by the facility/agency.

Administrative Support - 15%
  • Maintain records of facility requirements, updating as necessary. Distribute to clinical professors and preceptors the student and agency evaluation forms.
  • Confirm placements with nurse educators and /or placement coordinators in health care facilities via timely follow up communications.
  • Send completed rosters/ batch forms to faculty, and all clinical agencies per required time frames.
  • Communicate confirmed or changed clinical placement agreements with instructors, campus program coordinators and students for all undergraduate placements in the BSN curriculum.
  • Maintain databases of preceptors, practice site information and site evaluation forms.
  • Promote positive working relationships with clinical placement agencies and other institutions.
  • Maintain University and clinical agencies requirements (ie.HIPPA & FERPA)
  • Maintain open lines of communication with students, faculty, staff, coordinators, directors, and the community at large.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; OR,
  • A diploma in registered nursing; and an undergraduate degree in a related area; AND,
  • Eligible for RN license in the State of Arizona.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a registered Nurse.
    • Current knowledge of nursing practice that includes:
    • an ability to use the vocabulary of nursing
    • an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing
    • a knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice.
    • an understanding of the educational experiences of student nurses.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL, you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and adhere to the clearinghouse requirements. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Salary range begins at $47,634. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits.
