Position Summary

Enrollment Services is comprised of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Evaluations, Out-of-State and Specialized Recruitment, International Recruitment, Prospective Student Services, Curriculum, Class Schedule and Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.

This position is part of an Enrollment Services unit, which is primarily responsible for overseeing the recruitment efforts for new international students. This unit supports international undergraduate and graduate students through the application and yield process to meet its enrollment management goals and enhancing the diversity of its students.

The Director of International Recruitment will develop, implement, and execute recruitment strategies to achieve the University's enrollment objectives and provide operational leadership to International Recruitment team, including in-country representatives. The incumbent is responsible for planning and delivering recruiting programs targeted at international students and assessing their effectiveness. In addition, the incumbent will lead the development of marketing materials and communication plans for international prospects, applicants, and admitted students. The Director will be responsible for managing recruitment budget and strategically allocating resources to maximize efforts and achieve enrollment goals. The incumbent will collaborate closely with internal and external partners such as the International Student Center (ISC) and Global Campus (GC) to support the campus wide effort of increasing the number of international students attending the University.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional work experience in recruitment, admissions and/or related students services area.
  • Experience working with international students and coordinating international recruitment efforts.
  • Experience in implementing strategies to meet specific enrollment management goals.
  • Familiarity with immigration procedures, and SEVIS and knowledge of foreign educational systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to lead a team.
  • Experience in creating and implementing recruitment plans to increase the numbers of qualified applicants and overall admission yields for specialized groups.

Specialized Requirements
  • Must be able to travel for work (internationally) and have a valid passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to work alternative hours for activities such as recruitment events that take place on weekends or evenings.

Licenses and/or Certifications Required

Valid California driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.

Supplemental Information

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
