Position Summary

Dr. Mary Baker-Ericzen is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Post-Secondary Education at San Diego State University. Responsibilities include working on the NIMH R01 funded multisite project (collaborating with Portland State University- Drs. Christina Nicolaidis & Dora Raymaker, Oregon Health & Science University- Dr. Willi Horner, Vanderbilt University Medical Center- Dr. Julie Lounds Taylor) to develop and test an autism patient-reported outcome measures (AUT-PROMS) toolbox. This study will also enroll a large cohort to follow longitudinally with the long-term goal to improve life outcomes for autistic adults. The AUT-PROMS toolbox will be tested with a large diverse sample within multiple community service systems- healthcare, disability and vocational services and the larger community (may or may not be involved in services). Additionally, the post-doc will be involved in an initiative to disseminate and implement evidence-based executive functioning and social cognition interventions for neurodiverse teens and adults in community service and education settings. These projects are exciting opportunities to participate in community-based participatory research and connect with a large network of autistic self-advocates and community-focused researchers across the US.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participating in community-based participatory research groups
  • Connecting with service settings and facilitating data collection
  • Conducting training and consultation to providers in evidence-based interventions for neurodiverse populations to enhance executive functioning and social cognitions (“soft skills”)
  • Supervising of graduate and undergraduate students at SDSU
  • Pursuing independent secondary data analyses study
  • Preparing scholarly manuscripts and conference presentations
  • Assisting with grant applications
  • Performing data management tasks and statistical analysis
  • Fostering a network of research collaborators through registration and data sharing agreements

Initial appointment is for one year and support is available for a second year conditional on satisfactory progress toward project and individual goals. This position is full-time and designated exempt under FLSA.

Education and Experience
  • Doctorate in the field of psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, special education, disability counseling or very related field prior to start date
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills and potential to mentor graduate students
  • Experience with management and analysis of datasets
  • Experience working with community partners in disability and/or mental health settings and marginalized neurodiverse communities
  • Candidates must have obtained their doctorate degree within the last two years

Compensation and Benefits

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Hiring salary: $54,835 annually
