Job Details

We seek candidates who are committed to teaching at the undergraduate level and also have potential for teaching excellence at the upper level. The successful candidate may teach a combination of survey courses in U.S. history, world history, thematic core courses, as well as occasional upper-level courses that contribute to the development of our curriculum and complement current departmental offerings. The preferred candidate will be A.B.D. or hold a Ph.D. in history at the time of appointment. Preference may be given to those who have a specialization in history of science, medicine, and technology; history of sports; environmental history, or legal history.


The typical course load for Lecturers in the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts is 30 credit hours per academic year or the equivalent with due consideration and adjustment made for the demands of individualized instruction, experiential learning, and other high-impact teaching practices. The University offers support for professional development and scholarly activity both on and off campus and values community engagement as an element of the faculty role.
