Doane University is looking for an experienced financial aid professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The position is primarily located on our non-residential campus in Lincoln, Nebraska and will also commute, as necessary, to our residential campus located in Crete, Nebraska. If you have comprehensive knowledge of all aspects financial aid operations and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and faculty this opportunity may be just what you're looking for.

In this role you will provide excellent customer service as you guide financial aid applicants and their families throughout the financial aid application process and determine eligibility within the parameters of institutional, state and federal requirements. You will work primarily with the adult and graduate student learners with an emphasis on customer service, communications, compliance, and the efficient use of technology.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of four years of financial aid experience at an institution of higher learning or another highly regulated field.
  • Experience must demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility and understanding of financial aid programs.

Your experience should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of financial documents and highly proficient computer skills
  • Proficiency with systems used to determine student's eligibility and originate a financial aid award. (These may include: Colleague, NSLDS, COD, CPS, Scholarnet, MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, problem solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the financial aid operation
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills
  • Knowledge of student financial aid compliance and reporting requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate effectively with a students, parents, staff and faculty
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex financial aid regulations and apply appropriately in different situations
  • Understanding income tax laws as they relate to federal financial aid
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Licenses and Certifications:

  • NASFAA Credentialing is preferred but not required
