Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for a Faculty position in Physical Education (rank commensurate with experience and qualifications). Instruction of Exercise and Health Science/Physical Education undergraduate and graduate majors with additional courses assigned as the candidate's background allows; academic faculty advising; supervision of Physical Education Student Teacher candidates. The position begins Fall 2022.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Teaching courses within both the College of Health Science and Technology and College of Education and may include some of the following courses: Foundations of Exercise and Sport Science, Teaching Team Sports Activities, Teaching Individual and Dual Sport Activities, Curriculum Design, Physical Activities for Children with Special Needs, Physical Growth and Motor Development, Fitness Activities in Technology, Fitness and Wellness, and Content and Methods for Teaching at the Middle and Secondary Levels for undergraduate and graduate Physical Education majors with additional courses assigned as the candidate's background allows.
  • Academic faculty advising
  • Supervision of Physical Education Student Teacher candidates.
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Skill Sets:

  • Master's degree in Physical Education or related teaching field
  • Five years of teaching at the K-12 level
  • Current Illinois Teaching License endorsed in Physical Education and possesses current pedagogical and technology skills.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Hold or are near completion of an earned doctorate
  • College level teaching experience and experience
  • Experience with edTPA, performance-based assessment tool student teacher candidates are required to complete concurrently during their internship.

Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Physical Education or related teaching field
  • Undergraduate certification or colloquy completion as a professional church worker in the LCMS is preferred.
