Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Program Coordinator

The School of Hospitality Management (SHM) is hiring a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) coordinator to help lead the new MPS in Hospitality Management (HM) with an anticipated state date of January 2023. As a full-time, teaching faculty member, the faculty coordinator will also teach a complement of undergraduate, and if qualified, MPS graduate courses throughout the academic year, as assigned to their areas of expertise. A terminal degree in hospitality management or related field is preferred with master's degree holders with substantial industry and teaching experience will be considered. Two of the following areas of teaching expertise is preferred: club and resort, meetings and events management, financial or revenue management, institutional food service management, hotel management, and global strategic management. The 48-week appointment includes teaching, service, and administrative responsibilities through the three-semester academic year. Primary duties include managing the MPS recruitment, admissions, and advising practices, and developing and fostering relationships with prospective and current students, college, and university partners, in particular, SHM's MPS educational partner in Smeal College of Business, as well as the full range of SHM stakeholders. Applicants must demonstrate a strong teaching record of undergraduate and preferably professional master's degree programs in hospitality or related management fields as well as managerial experience within a higher education setting. Service experience and leadership in educational associations as well as in advising student organizations, and industry engagement are welcome.

The School offers three levels of academic excellence at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. The School enjoys an engaged alumni association, active industry partners and advisors, and a global reputation for excellence. The School offers faculty access to the School's research and teaching kitchens, events management and beverage labs, sensory and eye-tracking labs, and other collaborative facilities to serve the greater Penn State mission and the hospitality industry.
