Job Description:
The Senior Advisor provides support and guidance to his/her caseload to ensure students have the best opportunity to achieve their educational goals. Senior Advisors are responsible for the engagement and progression of students and play a pivotal role in promoting student success to ensure they reach key benchmarks throughout their academic program. 
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assesses strengths and weaknesses in students academic, career, and personal development by identifying factors that enhance or prevent academic progress, examines alternatives based on changing goals, academic progress or personal situation, and interprets non-cognitive assessment results to guide students to establish realistic academic and career goals including a transfer or employment strategy and developing an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) 
  • Monitors academic progress of students by analyzing progress reports from instructors, determining eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree, identifying current and potential needs or problem areas; such as, study skills and tutoring, and helping students access college resources, including navigating the student portal to attain self-sufficiency in college transactions 
  • Develops and delivers seminars, orientations, workshops, training, or other activities as well as, conducts and leads group advisement sessions during new student orientations 
  • Promotes student engagement through college life and campus involvement 
  • Communicates with student caseload systematically, frequently, and intentionally through multiple methods, including but not limited to face-to-face meetings, college-supported technology solutions, e-mail, telephone, text messages, and social media 
  • Provides information, analyzes data, generates written reports regarding their caseload progress as requested and contributes to the development of the Annual Effectiveness Reports (AER) 
  • Collaborates with faculty and other college personnel to identify creative solutions to enhance the students overall educational experience 
  • Works collaboratively with relevant discipline and student services personnel to ensure seamless transition to academic coaching and mentoring and through degree completion 
  • Conducts exit interviews with students who withdraw from the college in order to improve current retention plans and develop new plans to address emerging issues 
  • Ensures student caseload is adhering to IEP and registering continuously each semester 
  • Completes all necessary professional development, including required training offered by College Training and Development 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Masters degree in psychology, counseling, education or other discipline deemed relevant by the college and one (1) year of relevant experience in a higher education or similar setting
