Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Simulation Lab Technician/Technical Specialist provides direct technological support to the lab faculty and students utilizing the simulation and lab equipment within the Center for Nursing and Allied Health. Note: The College will offer instruction consistent with the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), directives from the Massachusetts Governor's Office, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Operate the simulator during scenarios and provide technical assistance and support to faculty.
2. Demonstrate current knowledge of nursing technology within the CNAH including all aspects of simulator operation, computerized medication system, IV pumps, and other equipment, as needed.
3. Identify problems with simulation and equipment technology and communicate with appropriate resources (CCCC IT Department and vendors such as Laerdal) to aid in analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing manikins and various lab equipment, as needed.
4. Conduct ongoing maintenance of simulation equipment and other technology within the CNAH including cleaning and repairs. Maintain detailed records of all repairs.
5. Participate in training to stay up to date on simulator knowledge and other technological skills.
6. Assist with ordering supplies and managing appropriate inventory to include lab ware and instruments essential to the operation of the lab.
7. Instruct and train other faculty members in the appropriate use of the nursing/health sciences technology.
8. Contribute to positive student experiences within the Simulation Laboratory.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, instructional technology or a related discipline, plus 2 years of experience and/or training that includes computer operating systems, hardware/software installation/troubleshooting, and network system administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications.
3. Skill with the integration of both high and moderate fidelity human patient simulations in the teaching-learning process.
4. Able to work as an effective and positive team member.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
2. Appreciation for and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
3. Experience in simulation lab.
4. Knowledge of audio-visual equipment for recording and live streaming.
5. A.S. /B.S. degree in health-related field.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : $30.03 per hour, up to 18 hours per week. Part-time, Non-benefited MCCC Unit Position.
