Job Summary

The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the BSW program, assuring adherence to all CSWE accreditation standards. The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator exercises responsibility for the administration of the field experience program, ensuring planned cooperation and coordination between the BSW program and the agencies selected for the field placement of undergraduate social work students.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator coordinates the undergraduate field program, ensuring adherence to all CSWE accreditation standards. The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator teaches SOWK 4470: Field Integrative Seminar (3 credits) and SOWK 4472: Field Instruction (12 credits) each semester. The individual exercises responsibility for the administration of the field experience program, ensuring planned coordination between the Department of Social Work and the agencies providing field education to BSW students. The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator assumes the leadership in annually preparing theBSW Field Manual, along with its field policies, procedures, and objectives; creating and maintaining qualified undergraduate field placements; selecting and training selected field instructors, delivering orientation and training programming; evaluating student learning in the field; maintaining statistical data in order to evaluate student and program outcomes; meeting with the Department’s Field Advisory Committee to regularly review and enhance field operations; and provide the faculty with information on emerging trends in social work practice. The Assistant Professor / BSW Field Coordinator participates in departmental activities through committees and may participate in a variety of other professional activities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Database management of student and agency information
  • Conduct student interviews to make appropriate matches to field practicum agencies
  • Recruit, develop and maintain high-quality field placements that support the educational mission of the BSW program
  • Serve as a member of the Department’s Administrative Team, consisting of the BSW Program Director, the BSW Field Coordinator, the MSW Program Director and the MSW Field Coordinator
  • Work with faculty members to strengthen and refine the field curriculum, in alignment with CSWE accreditation standards
  • Provide support and direction to the BSW field faculty acting as field liaisons
  • Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications

Must possess a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program.

No less than four years of social work practice experience.

One to two years of experience working with data bases and survey tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of the Master of Social Work (LMSW) and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensures highly desirable.

Proposed Salary

Salary range from $41,000 to $53,000

  • thorough knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and their application to undergraduate field programming
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database capabilities
  • a knowledge of field program management software used for field placement, student progress tracking, document management, and workflow automation
  • familiarity with generalist social work settings in Southwest Georgia, the State, and the region
  • Knowledge of Title IV-E policies and procedures as they relate to undergraduate field internships in the State of Georgia
