Database Operations Manager

Job Description:


The Database Operations Manager leads the College’s database management group in the technical design, configuration and troubleshooting of critical systems. This position sets the
standards for availability, security and performance for data services at the College
 

Duties & Responsibilities:


•Supervises Database Administration Team
•Designs and implements on system architectures to integrate enterprise systems, ETL workflows, and ERP instances
•Performs technical upgrades for critical line of business applications and database systems
•Creates and maintains databases for multiple development, testing and production environments
•Monitors and troubleshoots database performance, tunes queries, and database configurations as required
•Applies security and on-going patches to critical line of business applications and database systems
•Configures and maintains data replication to multiple environments for BI, Disaster
•Recovery, and support of Quality Assurance and development environments
•Coordinates the development of end to end architecture (data, middleware, application) for enterprise data-centric initiatives

 
Minimum Requirements: 


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, MIS or other closely related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in implementing and maintaining complex database systems
•Two (2) years of experience in supervisory role of a technical team
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and Procedures
•Strong knowledge of database technologies
•Experience with Microsoft SQL Server OLTP, OLAP, SSIS and SSRS services.
•Experience with Oracle database
•Advanced knowledge of current techniques in ETL and database tuning tools
•Ability to manage and apply effective leadership skills to direct technical staff
•Strong analytical skills
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
•Strong project management skills with the ability to ensure completion of department initiatives and recommendations
•Ability to effectively present information to top management, IT personnel and District organizations
