Assistant Director of Admissions, Hispanic/LatinX Outreach and Recruitment

Old Dominion University’s Assistant Director of Admissions will support the implementation of the undergraduate admissions strategic plan to identify, recruit, admit and enroll future students to the institution. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the recruitment and program development of Hispanic/Latino prospective students entering the University’s undergraduate programs. It will represent the University at college fairs, high schools, and other recruitment events both on and off-campus. Manage an assigned territory responsible for outreach to high schools and community colleges, attend college fairs, and communicate and counsel prospective and admitted Hispanic/LatinX students. Build and foster relationships with high school counselors, influencers, university stakeholders and community-based organizations that serve this population. Utilize coaching techniques.
 

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field required. A bachelor’s degree in a related field with experience and training equivalent to a Master’s degree in a related field of study may be substituted. Some prior experience working in higher education admissions, student affairs, or closely related area. Multi or bilingual language skills in English and Spanish. Excellent communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills. Considerable knowledge of Microsoft packages. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and treat matters with tact and discretion. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures to the public.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with using a CRM. Some related experience working with Hispanic/LatinX students, families and community organizations that support them. Some knowledge of expenditure tracking and accepted fiscal practices, procedures and policies. Some knowledge of (or ability and willingness to learn) student financial assistance programs and Higher Education processes.

Conditions of Employment: Flexibility and willingness to travel. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
