Veterinary Care Technician I
With supervision, independently and in collaboration with others,
perform research in animal models of disease, conduct a wide
variety of standard laboratory procedures thereof; analyze data and
interpret results; investigate, troubleshoot, and modify methods
and procedures as necessary; may assist in designing experiments;
may provide routine equipment maintenance as well as
guidance/training to other department personnel; perform other
related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or
RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:
• Management of mouse colonies including daily observations
• Perform treatments of study animals including surgeries,
collection of blood, and harvesting organs and tissues at the end
• Work under general supervision. Assistance given for unusual
problems and normally reviewed for application of sound
• Ability to independently conduct a wide variety of standard
laboratory techniques/procedures as applied to colony management
and in vivo studies. Some ability to use judgement when necessary

Commensurate with experience.
Degree from an accredited veterinary technology program; or an
associate's degree and one year of experience as a veterinary
AA with 10 years’ experience in animal handling and dosing,
particularly p.o., tissue harvesting, mouse colony management.
Ability to perform genotyping and other downstream assays such as
RT-qPCR, tissue slicing, immunohistochemistry, FISH, Western
blotting desirable but not required.
