Alfred University seeks enthusiastic candidates to apply for the position of the Assistant Director for Academic Success. The responsibilities of the Assistant Director are to continually develop, implement, and maintain high-quality, comprehensive academic support programs designed to meet the needs of the Alfred University student population. The Assistant Director will assist the Director of Center for Academic Success with intake screening interviews of referred students, supervision of graduate assistants, and responding to the needs of students as they arise. The Assistant Director will also maintain a case load of students with disabilities, as well as be responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of undergraduate peer tutors and Supplemental Instruction leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts evaluations of the academic support programs on a regular basis and makes appropriate revisions to programming when necessary
- Coordinates Supplemental Instruction, learning labs, individual/small group tutoring services, and UNIV 103 course every semester
- Develops and maintains comprehensive tutor and Supplemental Instruction training programs
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates all tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and UNIV 103 instructors
- Develops and maintains a social media presence for the center and its programs
- Maintains a database of student requests, qualified tutors, tutor-tutee matches
- Maintains all payroll records and extensive records regarding the use of tutoring services, including participation hours and student retention
- Collaborates with the Academic Units and other campus offices to coordinate academic support services
- Consults with tutors on tutee concerns and issues
- Campus outreach: Conducts Student Success workshops, Orientation, and FYE Programming
- Supports the Director of Center for Academic Success in responding to the needs of students and parents as they arise
- Assists the Director of Center for Academic Success with intake screening interviews of students, supervision of graduate assistants
- Maintains a caseload of students with disabilities
- Master's degree in School Psychology, Special Education, College Student Development, or related field
- Experience working with a college student population is desired but not required
- Highly organized, highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in academic success in higher education, program design and evaluation
- Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Skills in assessment and data analysis
- Ability to work independently
