Job Description
The Law Enforcement Trainer provides training instruction in the general subject areas to police candidates and law enforcement officers on active duty. This position develops lesson plans, practical expenses and creates other training aids. 

Duties & Responsibilities
•Instructs, evaluates, monitors students, provides classroom instruction and scenario based training
•Instructs career development courses (In-Service) as necessary to law enforcement officers
•Participates in curriculum development and revises the curriculum to be in compliance with state and federal standards
•Assists in the development of instructor guides, lesson plans, training aids and reference materials
•Recommends and identifies improvements as needed
•Reacts promptly, appropriately, and decisively in emergencies in which personal safety and that of others may be threatened
•Performs basic first aid and CPR if necessary

Minimum Requirements
•Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in related field and seven (7) years of relevant work experience in policing environment; or equivalent combination of education and related experience 
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution 
•Must possess a CJSTC CMS General Instructor Certification or the FDLE Instructor Exception form #82
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
•Ability to work independently with limited supervision
•Ability to make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
•Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies 
•Ability to redirect behavior and implement classroom management techniques
