Department Summary

The College of Extended and Global Education (CEGE) at California State University, San Bernardino offers a variety of programs and serves as the main outreach arm of the University to extend educational resources and services to broader audiences across the region, as well as nationally and internationally.

CEGE also leads CSUSB's internationalization efforts by collaborating with university and off-campus partners to develop and offer programs, activities, and services that support CSUSB's strategic goals. Through its Center for International Studies and Programs (CISP), CEGE serves as the hub for international students and scholars and education abroad. International Extension Programs (IEP) offers the English Language Program (ELP) and a variety of short term and customized educational programs.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote the College of Extended and Global Education (CEGE) and its programs by using market research data to determine the most effective techniques and approaches for reaching target audiences; identifying the needs and interests of various constituent groups; and carrying out other communication and marketing activities for the College. Working independently under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote CEGE and its programs by using market research data to determine the most effective techniques and approaches for reaching target audiences. This position is responsible for managing social channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and others that are part of the college's social media strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with other CEGE staff to ensure an intentional, measurable, and streamlined communication workflow. This position develops and maintains a marketing calendar to organize the college's marketing campaigns. The incumbent needs to stay current on the latest digital and social media marketing trends and innovations, and popular culture references. This position utilizes CRM (e.g., Salesforce) to help organize and manage marketing activities.
  • Contributes to the overall artistic direction and building brand awareness for CEGE.
  • Creatively design and create layouts for social media, email, web, brochures, posters, flyers, banners, print, and other forms of advertising.
  • Identifies and prepares market and competitive analysis for potential programs.
  • gathers data and evaluates effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • translates results of research into strategic communication efforts including selecting the best medium to achieve goals.


Employment Status: Full-time, "exempt", temporary position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

Work Schedule
  • Regular Operating Hours for Administrative Offices: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours may be required. As needed, travel may be required to participate in program events/activities.
  • Summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices and techniques related to media and marketing.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use effectively media channels and outlets.
  • Working knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods. Ability to use market research to enhance the impact of enrollment management campaigns.
  • Ability to analyze and select pertinent facts and integrate them into communication channels.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media marketing from concept, to design, to implementation, to formative and summative analytics.
  • Proficiency in graphic designs techniques, and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Working knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to publications and the news media.
  • Strong story development and writing skills. Working knowledge of appropriate use of data analysis techniques.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication pieces.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing or other business field.
  • 2 years of marketing experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years marketing experience with emphasis on research, marketing plans, and social media.



Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,515 - $4,500 per month

Classification Salary Range: $3,515 - $6,358 per month
