JOB SUMMARY

The School of Entrepreneurship at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure track position in Entrepreneurship beginning August 2023. Rank is open.

We are seeking entrepreneurial individuals that want to make a difference as an educator and be part of a dynamic, growing School of Entrepreneurship - the only such entity in California! Successful candidates think like an owner, are results oriented and committed to innovative teaching, scholarship, and student success. Must be comfortable collaborating as part of a team and being accountable in helping us achieve the School's 3-year picture.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

As a part of the AACSB accredited Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC), the School of Entrepreneurship program serves over 300 students in an undergraduate concentration, minor program, MBA concentration, MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and multiple collaborative degree, minor and certificate programs with other academic departments on campus (e.g., art, science). The School employs the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to guide our operations and processes, which requires full participation of faculty and staff to help us in meeting our quarterly, annual and 3-year goals.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

Expectations for the position include innovative teaching of Entrepreneurship courses (undergraduate and graduate levels) at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campus. In addition the position will have significant participation in program development and leadership. Candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community.

We are seeking candidates who have a passion for teaching Entrepreneurship and a willingness to mentor and coach students - being a good entrepreneurial role model is paramount. Candidates must also have a strong interest and skills that enable them to participate in building curriculum, developing innovative academic and experiential programs, taking on leadership roles within the School, developing and maintaining relationships with the local business community and working on various projects and activities in the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE). It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in maintaining student engagement, advisement of students in the Entrepreneurship program, and serving on school, college and university-wide committees. In addition, faculty are expected to support University, JHBC, and School strategic goals, which include student success and partnerships with the community to enhance the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the region and beyond.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in the area of Entrepreneurship or a closely-related field (e.g. Strategic Management, Management) is required by time of appointment. Additional qualifications for the position include:
  1. Evidence of teaching potential with a diverse student body at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  2. Scholarly accomplishments in alignment with AACSB scholarly academic (SA, PA, SP) standing.
  3. Professional (entrepreneurship/industry) experience appropriate to rank.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Priority will be given to those candidates who have a substantive combination of the following:
  1. Good fit with the core values of the School of Entrepreneurship (ownership mindset, results oriented, commitment to continuous learning).
  2. Committed to working as part of an integrated team of faculty and staff in the School of Entrepreneurship, with a focus on team and individual accountability and commitment to achieving our vision.
  3. Significant prior professional experience in the field, with an emphasis on business ownership, small business finance, creative arts, tech transfer and/or economic development.
  4. Substantive teaching experience and demonstrated teaching excellence in Entrepreneurship.
  5. Experience in teaching/research in one of our focus areas (entrepreneurial process, creativity/ideation/improvisation, entrepreneurship in the arts, minority entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance and science entrepreneurship/technology transfer).
  6. Multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and/or a promising stream of teaching, practitioner, or discipline-based research.
  7. Experience and interest in building academic and/or Center-based programs in the area of Entrepreneurship.
  8. Experience mentoring and coaching a diverse student population.
