The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) is within the College of Health Sciences (CHS). The Department offers B.S. degrees in Biomedical Sciences with submajors in Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health Microbiology, Cytotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, Radiologic Technology, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The BMS department teaches a variety of undergraduate courses that satisfy the requirements of the majors and program in addition to general education courses. The department also offers an M.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences and participates in the CHS interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Health Sciences program.

Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to teach the nutrition courses within the BMS department and cultivate a student-centered, innovative instructional environment that includes dynamic and engaging classroom experiences. In addition, this position will participate in service responsibilities that support the mission, goals, and outcomes of the Biomedical Sciences Department and the Nutrition Sciences Program. The candidate will communicate with the Nutrition and Nursing programs in order to maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures and student programs, as well as maintain current knowledge of profession and teaching methodologies. In addition, this position in partnership with the BMS Undergraduate Program Director, will ensure that coursework meets campus general education requirements. Specifically, this position will deliver both online and in person instruction for sections of BMS 232: Introduction to Nutrition and BMS 332: Clinical nutrition. In addition, this position will teach other courses as needed.

This is a 12-month position. The primary responsibilities of this position will include 90% instruction and 10% service.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in relevant field


Preferred Qualifications
  • National certification: Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Wisconsin certification: Certified Dietitian (CD)
  • 1-3 years of relevant teaching or clinical experience
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (examples: Canvas, D2L, Blackboard)
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
