Staff Clinician/Case Manager
Join our community and experience Emerson College!
The Staff Clinician/Case Manager position will provide a dual role at the Emerson Wellness Center. The staff clinician will provide individual psychological evaluation, short-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, referrals and case management to students in psychological/emotional distress. They will also offer longer-term psychotherapy to 1-2 clients each year on an as needed basis. Additionally, this clinician consults with Residence Life and Education, Dean of Students, and other departments on campus regarding psychological emergencies and mental health issues.
Staff Clinician Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach and programming offerings to the campus
community, including training of resident assistants, crisis
debriefings, and workshops. Consult with campus professionals
regarding student health and well-being; will function as a liaison
to various campus departments.
- Communicate regularly with Center staff on clinical and
administrative matters and enhance departmental collaboration and
quality of care provided to students by attending scheduled staff
and clinical team meetings, case conferences, individual
supervision and peer supervision as assigned.
- Provide urgent daytime coverage for students in acute
crisis, triage needs, arrange outside administrative, transport and
medical/hospital intervention as needed; consult with involved
professionals, college staff, and family or friends when indicated;
follow all ethical, legal, and clinical standards of
confidentiality.
- Participate in on-call rotation (2nd call), responding to
after-hours emergencies as needed.
- Participate in external professional associations to
maintain and extend clinical knowledge and expertise and to develop
and deepen referral networks for students requiring specialized
services off-campus; sustain and deepen knowledge base of best
current practices in psychology and college mental health with
regular educational activities and conference
attendance.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records by writing on-going
case notes, intake and termination summaries in accordance with
Massachusetts state laws.
Case Manager Responsibilities:
- Provide case management services for students to assist them
in finding community providers for long-term
treatment.
- Maintain and build relationships with community
providers.
- Expand knowledge of community resources for Emerson students
and stay in contact with providers to determine openings for
clients.
- Assist clients in connecting with referrals at the
appropriate level of care.
- Provide support for historically under- represented students
in finding appropriate care.
- Regularly communicate with Health Services staff regarding
joint referrals; will spend one day per week on the Health Services
floor.
This is a FT M-F (36.25hr/week) benefitted 11 month position paid over 11 months. Must have availability to work one evening a week, as we offer extended hours for students two nights a week.

Qualifications:
Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) or Master's in Social Work (LCSW, LICSW); or Licensed Mental Health Provider (LMHC). Licensure must be current in Massachusetts; strong clinical skills and a solid background in psychological crisis intervention and management; knowledgeable of psychological trends on college campuses; ability to effectively work with students from a broad range of backgrounds and life experiences; a commitment to diversity and team building; excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years experience in college mental health or community mental health and supervision.
