School of Nursing

Continuing-Track Position for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing

The School of Nursing in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware seeks an experienced, innovative and highly motivated candidate for an open-rank, 9-month, continuing track faculty appointment in the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing specialty area to join our faculty that includes nationally recognized leaders in advanced practice, education, research, and policy. All faculty are expected to teach in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

Qualifications for this position include an MSN (DNP or PhD preferred), U.S. RN licensure, Delaware RN licensure eligibility, with certification as an APRN highly desirable and a record of successful teaching experience (including online) in postsecondary nursing programs preferred. Faculty practice in the Nurse Managed Primary Care Center (NMPCC), part of UD Health, is encouraged as a key element of the position. Delaware is a full practice authority state, so professional autonomy is observed. Expectations also include participation in scholarship and service activities.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The School of Nursing ( is a thriving academic unit of over 40 faculty, approximately 775 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students. Recognized as a Center of Excellence by the National League of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the School offers innovative, dynamic pre-licensure baccalaureate (Traditional and Accelerated), RN to BSN, masters in Health Systems Leadership, and post-master's and post-baccalaureate doctoral programs, including the DNP and a PhD in Nursing Science, spanning face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online programs. The School of Nursing has a strong drive to continue growing its research program in areas of aging, symptom science, and health services research. The School of Nursing emphasizes interdisciplinary and translational research, interpersonal education and service to the community in an environment that supports diversity and inclusion. The School also houses the interdisciplinary Nurse Managed Primary Care Center (NMPCC), an innovative, evidence-based practice that provides prevention and wellness services, chronic disease management, mental health care, and Parkinson's disease treatment to a diverse patient population. UD's College of Health Sciences (CHS) is an innovative, interdisciplinary college of more than 3,000 students and 150 faculty. CHS includes the School of Nursing and departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical and Molecular Sciences, Physical Therapy, and Epidemiology. CHS has teaching and research facilities throughout the campus, including the state-of-the-art UD Health Sciences Complex on the University's Science Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The first UD Health building at STAR opened in January 2014 and the Tower at STAR opened in Fall 2018, providing 170,000 sq. ft. of research, meeting, collaboration and educational space. The Tower also includes virtual reality simulation space and an adaptive living apartment complete with sensor technology. The Tower's state-of-the-art spaces promote interprofessional education and training as well as research leading to the development of new devices, techniques and interventions. The STAR Campus fosters connections to the community, linking the community to the inter-professional training of our students and collaborative research between faculty and clinicians.
