Hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate center leadership to achieve the vision, mission, and goals of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center, the Center for Women and Gender Equity, and the Military and Veteran Resource Center.

Work with the leadership of each center to oversee the overall creation, coordination, and implementation of programs and services (on all campuses), that support students’ academic, social, cultural and professional development regarding race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and people living at the intersections of multiple identities.

Raise campus awareness and provide education and advocacy regarding all of the students the centers serve to further racial justice, gender justice, LGBTQIA justice, and military awareness and inclusion on campus.

Perform as a team member among relevant divisional and cross-divisional teams. Serve on various committees to create inclusive and proactive campus policies, improve campus climate, and coordinate institutional responses to bias.

Act as a strong collaborative campus partner and serve the larger University by attending campus events and participating in campus-wide projects and committees.

Engage with the local community as a representative of the GVSU Social justice Centers.

Serve on the EMT (the Division of Enrollment Development and Educational Outreach) leadership team. Connect with the community broadly by leading and serving on boards. Special projects as assigned.

Performs other duties as required/assigned by the manager.

Lead all operations of the Office of Multicultural Affairs including strategic planning and visioning for the future. Raise campus awareness and provide education and advocacy regarding racial equity issues to create an inclusive campus climate and equitable outcomes. Outreach to academic units to enhance student learning by creating opportunities for theory to practice for students, with specific outreach to the area and global studies.

Oversee robust retention efforts that elevate affinity needs and close success gaps through the Laker Connections programs: Black Excellence, Laker Familia, Asian Student Achievement Program, and Mno’chigewin Native Student Support Initiative.

Provide campus-wide education through cultural heritage programming that addresses various aspects of racial equity to include:  Black History Month, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, and Cesar Chavez Celebration, as examples.

Facilitate assessment, evaluation, and annual reporting for OMA.
