Responsibilities

Senior manager providing support to the Controller as well as oversight and direction to the managers responsible for all student financial billings, collections, refunds, tuition calculation, and all other aspects of Student Business Services (SBS).  Ensures proper coordination and operational efficiencies between areas within SBS and between SBS and Financial Aid, the Provost's Office, and other financial areas (Tax & Compliance, Accounting, etc.)

Duties will include:

  • Establishing and managing departmental goals and objectives, including strategic imperatives and SACS initiatives Assigning and monitoring staff workload and ensuring appropriate cross training and sufficient backup for all critical functions Interpreting and proposing policies to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations Developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance with university regulations, policies, and procedures Providing oversight and direction to the Student Business Services management teams Ensuring outstanding customer service is provided by the SBS team in all interactions with students, parents, and other university constituents Providing training to the campus community related to SBS policies and procedures Serving as an ambassador for FSU and as a resource when communicating regularly with students and parents and when providing leadership around the resolution of customer issues Ensuring effective and efficient design, upgrade, implementation, and troubleshooting of student financial-related systems by partnering with ITS, the Financial Systems area of the Controller’s Office, and through the direction of and collaboration with SBS management.
     

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and five years experience related to budget, financial and/or accounting services or a Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience.  Two years of experience must be in a supervisor role.  A thorough knowledge of basic accounts receivable processes, financial aid processes, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Proven ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with cross-functional business partners, internal/external stakeholders, and various levels of management Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices of management to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution skills

Preferred

  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Experience as a Bursar/Director of Student Financial Services or other senior/director level student accounts position Proven track record in diverse staff development, coaching, performance management, and the use of collaborative decision-making to meet organizational objectives Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate operating and financial risks, utilizing strong creative problem-solving skills
