The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently recruiting for a full time faculty member to join the Department of Family and Community Health in the Community Public Health program.

The Community Public Health program offers didactic and clinical/practicum courses for students in the RN to BSN program, the BSN program, the CNL program, the MSN in Community/Public Health specialty, and the DNP. UMSON enrolls more than 2,000 students in its baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland, graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical coordination for entry level Community Public Health clinical courses, including:
    • collaborate with the Department Chair, Vice Chair and Course Director to recruit adjunct clinical faculty
    • collaborate with clinical placement personnel responsible for recruitment of clinical sites
    • coordinate with clinical placement personnel responsible for ensuring faculty and students are compliant with all agency and evaluation requirements
    • orient adjunct clinical faculty to the role and expectations as needed
    • make site visits to clinical agencies
    • provide oversight and guidance for proper evaluation of students, sites, and clinical faculty
  • Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of entry level clinical and didactic education
  • Advise students
  • Maintain an active program of scholarship
  • Participate in faculty governance
  • Provide service to the school, university, and profession
Qualifications :

Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in community/public health nursing or public health required; doctoral degree in nursing or related field or enrollment within a year in a doctoral program required
  • Prior academic experience required
  • Active nursing license or eligibility to practice nursing in Maryland required
  • Familiarity with public health delivery sites in Maryland preferred
