AUM Office of Student Affairs, at Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a Coordinator of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs. Reporting to the Dean of Students, this position functions as a key leader in the activities associated with student organizations and leadership programs, other assigned programs and assists administrator as needed.

Coordinator of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs:
  • Oversees Warhawk Alley, including the hiring and training of part-time student employees.
  • Serves as the secondary advisor for the Student Government Association ( SGA ), Campus Activity Board ( CAB ) Orange Jacket Society ( OJS ) and other areas that focus on student development and success.
  • Coordinate and support Student Affairs events as assigned in conjunction with CAB, SGA, and other student leadership groups.
  • Provides oversight, vision, and direction in the implementation of signatures SILP events such as AUMfest, Shriek Week, Spring Fest, and the SILP Excellence Awards.
  • Develop leadership groups including SGA, CAB, OJS, and others as assigned, including regular on-campus meetings and occasional participation in regional training conferences.
  • Support the Orientation and Flight Week programs through coordinating student organization and leadership group participation.
  • Oversees all programming, staffing, and university utilization of Warhawk Alley.
  • Supervises and coordinates the training, selection, and development of student leaders.
  • Coordinate office operations and special projects as needed.
  • Develop new programmatic initiatives in conjunction with other units on campus.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Enrollment Management stakeholders to establish and utilize communication and data flows to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of student communication and data tracking.
  • Assesses student progress/needs and assists students in obtaining resources and support services as needed.
  • Represents the department at meetings, functions, and other university and community activities.
  • Prepare reports and content for presentations, workshops, publications and website and trainings. Maintains related database.
  • Supervises and coordinates the training, selection, and development of student leaders.
  • Assists in the promotion and coordination of evening and weekend events.
  • Develops, manages, and/or interprets related files (e.g., payroll, documents, reports, forms). Maintains related supplies, equipment and instructional materials.
  • Implements and enforces the Student Organization handbook.
  • Develops and monitors unit budgets.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, guests, university staff, faculty, and community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable University practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Knowledge of the transition needs of first-year and transfer students
  • Ability to speak in public and make presentations

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field and two (2) years of experience in work related to student services is required. At least one (1) year of direct experience with student programming is desirable. Experience working in higher education is preferred. Additional education in related field may be substituted for experience.
