Summary

The Sr. Research Associate will support research under the supervision of Dr. Vanessa Sheppard. The primary responsibility of the position is to monitor day-to-day project activities and monitor data collection. He/she will take the lead role in study recruitment, implementation, and retention, overseeing research assistants and graduate assistants. He/she will be responsible for the database development, management and statistical programming and analyses. Wil prepare the IRB documents for approval including amendments, continuing reviews. Provide data in tables, plots and graphs for publications and grant submissions. Develop applications for participant tracking and design tools to support data collection. Lead and collaborate on developing scientific products, such as scientific papers and manuscripts. Assist the PI with grant writing for future proposals.

Required Education and Experience

- Familiarity with the research process and principles of research design
- Understanding of health services research and other outcomes-oriented health research methods.
- Experience using software applications such as Redcap and Qualtrics for participant tracking and data collection preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, team-based project experience, and ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment required.
- 5 years + experience working in research environment or health care organization or equivalent education required.

- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Education and Experience:

- Master’s degree in related field

This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
