Job Summary

Auburn University is seeking applicants for a senior video Producer/Director who will lead production of high-level, memorable digital video content that will enhance and differentiate the Auburn brand, generate awareness, and inspire philanthropy and engagement. Housed within Advancement Communications and reporting to the Assistant Vice President, this position participates in the planning and production of video projects to create content that meets strategic communications goals for a variety of audiences.

As team lead and supervisor, the producer/director will collaborate with others on a broader creative team and be responsible for directing, shooting, and editing content for the university, as well as colleges and units around campus.

Essential Functions
  • Directs and manages all technical and creative aspects of media production.
  • Estimates budgets of media projects and schedules and directs all project activities to meet budgeted target; allocates resources to the various phases of projects.
  • Advises clients to determine desired message and which media, format, and style to deliver message to the target audience.
  • Directs and manages technical and creative personnel including but not limited to legal, professional, creative, and financial personnel.
  • Develops and arranges new stories through interviews and responds to requests from members of the media; writes scripts based on content provided by the client or generated directly from first hand research.
  • Create, design and direct university news material, commercials, and video for distribution to local and state media and general viewing audiences through multiple means of communication.
  • Generates proposals for media programs and presents them directly to internal and external funding sources.
  • Manages all aspects of production necessary for the overall effectiveness of the project.
  • Edits all video formats and any other media communication piece in concert with musical and narrative elements.
  • Oversees product distribution including but not limited to: product publicity, packaging and promotion, product duplication, conformity to broadcast standards, and completion of the billing process.

Experience in managing media projects to include producing, directing, and scheduling. Advanced degrees in a related field may be used in lieu of some years of experience.

Requirements for Additional Job Levels

Level IV: Bachelors degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 6 years experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

  • Ability to create and apply motion graphics and visual effects to video
  • Experience effectively leading a team
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, shoot and edit high-level videos for a variety of mediums, including live audience production, web, news, and social media
  • Creative capabilities to contribute to video concepting and storyboarding
  • Ability to work with both a production team as well as independently
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, AVID editing software and Adobe After Effects
