Job Summary
The Engineering Academic Excellence Program plays a vital role in promoting diversity among the Auburn University student body. The goal of the program is to strengthen the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. This position coordinates the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority students within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
Essential Functions
Plans, promotes and coordinates the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students for the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
Visits high schools, attends recruiting fairs, and maintains contacts with students, counselors, and advisors (some travel is required).
Plans, promotes, and coordinates retention programming for current students.
Assesses underrepresented students’ academic performance and prepares reports.
Counsels and mentors underrepresented students in academic and career paths through regular appointments and student meetings.
Solicits and generates funding by writing grant proposals and reports, tracks contributions and funding sources for programs, scholarships, and fellowships.
Administers the programs for underrepresented incoming freshmen, including coordinating instructional and promotional events and supervises logistics related to interns, counselors, housing staff, transportation, extra-curricular events and industry tours.
Instructs the AEP learning community course.
Assists with annual program budget preparation.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Field of Study
Degree in Management, Psychology, Communications, or related field

Requirements for Additional Job Levels
Level I Bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate to position with no experience.
Level II Bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate to position plus 2 years of experience in public relations, student recruitment, and/or student retention programs.
Level III Bachelors degree in a discipline appropriate to position plus 4 years of experience in public relations, student recruitment, and/or student retention programs.
