Job Summary:

This position reviews and approves the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) transactions within e-Reimbursement, ShopUW+, and the purchasing card program to align with UW-Madison, UW System, and, when applicable, Sponsor/Donor policies. This position is one of the main Divisional contacts that works to provide excellent customer services to our WSB units in helping to navigate policy and campus procedure. This position is responsible for interpreting policies, procedures, and guidelines while working with Campus Central Offices and helps with training of departmental faculty and staff within WSB.

This position will reside in a high energy, collegial office that is considered a campus Divisional Business Office.

Responsibilities:

Performs advanced accounting duties following generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. Prepares and reviews financial reports and assists with budgeting. Ensures the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions.
  • 5% Organizes, prepares, and updates financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
  • 5% Prepares and analyzes financial data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements solutions as needed
  • 5% Develops and maintains automated financial systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity
  • 5% Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports
  • 5% Provides and prepares budgets and projections based on existing data and established policies and procedures
  • 25% Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures
  • 35% Prepares and/or approves financial transactions and payments
  • 15% Provides guidance and training to WSB stakeholders (Academic Program Managers, Faculty, Staff, students) around campus systems, policy, and procedure via both 1:1 training and large group training.

Qualifications:

Well qualified candidates will possess:

- Knowledge of University, State, Federal and/or Nonfederal rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with University systems such as WISER, CashNet, ShopUW+ and e-Reimbursement.
- Advanced working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.
