Job Summary:

We seek a program manager for the Just Recovery for Racial Equity initiative, a collaboration between the Wisconsin Governor's Office, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the UW-Madison Population Health Institute (PHI). Just Recovery identifies and supports strategies for responding to COVID-19, recovery, and building resilience in communities of color by partnering with community-based organizations and local groups, including other government and social service agencies. The purpose of the Just Recovery for Racial Equity community and mini grants programs is to provide support for community partners that are working to mobilize communities towards mitigation and recovery from COVID-19, and those working to elevate communities.

The Just Recovery Program Manager will provide content and research expertise and project management to the initiative. This position will liaise between internal partners (the project team, PHI leadership, contracts and fiscal staff) and external partners, including the Community Advisory Team and evaluation and communications consultants. The Program Manager also provides technical expertise to research in partnership with senior research personnel or faculty related to COVID-19 response-related community resilience, racial equity, and strategies to advance a just recovery. The project manager will also establish data collection and project benchmark protocols, and will support the development and dissemination of reports related to the Just Recovery efforts.

Responsibilities:

Provides research expertise to fundamental and applied scientific research and solves problems in research development and applications to support the advancement of research.
  • 20% Collects and analyzes increasingly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, co-authors publications, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
  • 10% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
  • 10% Develops and implements increasingly complex research methodologies, procedures, and criteria
  • 10% Reviews and edits protocols to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency
  • 10% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
  • 20% Project management to the Just Recovery for Racial Equity Initiative

Education:

Required
Master's Degree
Master's degree in public health preferred.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications
- At least three years of experience working on initiatives to address racial equity
- Experience managing community grants programs
- Experience working with and supporting a community-led advisory team
- Experience applying qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods throughout a project life-cycle
- Experience disseminating evaluation results to professional and lay audience
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision

Work Type:

Part Time: 35% - 75%

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 10 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
