Instructional Designer

Earlham College seeks a motivated candidate to collaborate with faculty and staff on effective course design and the implementation of instructional technologies to support undergraduate and graduate level programs. This position will also support the College as it launches new majors and concentrations, including accounting, engineering, data security, game design, and others.

This is a full-time, 12-month, 40 hours-per-week administrative faculty appointment. The annual compensation range is $48,000 - $49,000 and includes a benefit package. Most work will be in-person during weekday office hours, with occasional evenings or weekends, and opportunities for flexible working hours and some work-from-home.

This position is supervised by the Library's Instructional Technologies Director. This position will partner closely with librarians, Information Technology Services, the Teaching and Learning Consultant, and other campus units.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Provides support and training for the Moodle learning management system, Kaltura video platform, Qualtrics survey software, and other academic technologies in collaboration with an existing academic technology support team.
2. Demonstrate strong teaching skills, including the ability to design student, faculty, and staff workshops and learning experiences. Partner with the College's Teaching & Learning Consultant to provide professional development for faculty.
3. Create engaging documentation and tutorials on the use of instructional technologies.
4. Collaborate with faculty one-on-one to match pedagogical goals with the appropriate course design and educational technology tools. Support departments needing course templates.
5. Assess instructional technology systems, trends, and user needs. Provide support to departments using Moodle for assessment purposes.
6. Conduct vigorous outreach with College faculty, students, and staff.

Experience & Qualifications

• A Master's degree in instructional design, library/information science, or relevant field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in higher education settings preferred.
• Knowledge of new instructional technologies and trends.
• Experience with instructional design models, principles, and learning theories.
