Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. Additional Job Information
The Brain Health and Plasticity Lab at UH is hiring a Researcher 1 to assist with a variety of laboratory projects related to the use of exercise as a tool to improve brain health. Working knowledge of basic laboratory assays and ability to work with minimal supervision is essential. Opportunities for involvement in data visualization and interpretation are available to the interested individual. This is a full-time, 18-month position with the possibility of extension contingent on funding and individual’s level of performance and commitment.
Primary job duties:
• Maintain rodent colonies.
• Conduct blood and tissue harvest from rodents.
• Perform biological preparations and assays including RNA extraction, genotyping, ELISAs, and Western blotting.
• Train and supervise undergraduate research assistants.

Qualifications :
Bachelors and 1 year experience
Bachelor's Degree with 1 year experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
• At least one year of wet lab experience.
• Comfortable working with computers and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience working with vertebrate animals.
