Accuplacer Mathematics: In this course, students will review basic arithmetic, quantitative reasoning, and algebra concepts in preparation for the Accuplacer. The goal of curriculum design is to be responsive to DOE curriculum requirements for the coming academic year. The curriculum will parallel content on the Accuplacer exam to ensure that students are testing at a college level upon completion.
Veterans Upward Bound Summer Terms:
Summer Program Instruction Dates: Monday, June 6th Sunday, August 14th

Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

15% Develop curriculum according to Veterans Upward Bound program guidelines for an assigned class. Design class with subject matter that reflects current pre-college (12th grade) content as specified in MA Department of Education (DOE) curriculum frameworks and to meet learning outcomes.

65% Facilitate a course with a cohort of a diverse population of students and respond in an appropriate manner to behavior and student concerns as well as collaborating with Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) staff.

15% Respect Veterans Upward Bound summer policies and procedures: possessing a thorough understanding of the VUB Programs overall goals and assisting with a program of study that will promote success and generate confidence for students.

5% Develop and administer pre and post-testing to students at the beginning and end of the summer program. Prepare and submit weekly assignments that support the subject matter. Tracking attendance and tutoring for all students and providing that information to VUB Directors. Submit progress reports on each students performance on a weekly basis or as necessary.
Requirements/Qualifications(examples):

B.A. or B.S. degree in the relevant field. Masters degree preferred.

Demonstrated ability to effectively develop a curriculum that is engaging and relevant.

Instructors must be committed to Veteran Upward Bounds goals and objectives and exhibit qualities necessary for working with students and parents.

Must be highly motivated, energetic, and engaging.

Experience working with a diverse population of students is preferred.
