JOB SUMMARY

The School of Criminology & Criminal Justice at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2023. The Criminal Justice school offers a broad range of courses designed to provide students with a comprehensive and policy-driven background for entering into criminal justice. Candidates should have teaching and research experience including working on grants and contracts. The successful candidate will teach a variety of criminal justice courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

The successful candidate will conduct and publish research, provide service to the university community including criminal justice agencies, teach criminal justice courses and advise students.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology from an accredited university is required by time of appointment; demonstrated ability to teach courses on a variety of criminal justice topics, and evidence of scholarship including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and/or research experience in corrections, homeland security, and advanced analytical techniques.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

The School of Criminology & Criminal Justice offers one BA program, one BS program, one MA program, and one self-support fully online BA completion program. The School also houses two research centers.
