Department Summary

The Human Resource Department, through its embodiment of the University's strategic and operational goals, supports students, faculty, and staff by providing innovative, transformational, and inclusive services and programs.

Job Summary

The Student Employment Coordinator (SEC) provides a variety of services including, but not limited to assisting with the logistics of hiring student employees, facilitate new student employment orientation/intake, and convey to hiring departments the process of hiring student employees.

Under general supervision, the SEC also provides administrative support in the Talent Acquisition area and assists with developing and facilitating training related to Student Employment as well as assist in coordinating programming such as job fairs and recognition programs.

Employment Status: Full time, Non-Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

First Review Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. Applicants will be reviewed beginning May 13, 2022.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

Key Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with Student Employment Lead, Talent Acquisition and HR colleagues, and other campus stakeholders (such as faculty and staff, hiring departments, and Payroll Services).
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • A thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices, and a thorough knowledge of correct English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • A working knowledge of budget policies and procedures is desired.
  • A thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies and procedures is required.
  • The ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects is required.
  • The ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist is required.
  • The ability to perform standard business math such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections is required.
  • The ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports is required.
  • The ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those of sensitive nature is required along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or its equivalent AND three years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information System such as PeopleSoft and Cherwell.
  • Familiarity with job posting systems such as Handshake.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Familiarity with other technology programs and software such as Drupal, Canva, Qualtrics, OneDrive, GoogleDocs.
  • Experience working in higher education, student employment, and/or human resources.

Salary

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,276 - $3,350 per month

Classification Salary Range: $3,276 - $5,148 per month
