Department Summary

The University Advancement Division generates the external and internal resources that improve and support student education at California State University, San Bernardino. Its primary purpose is to advance the mission of the university via private and corporate and foundation support, communications, government, community, and alumni relations.

Job Summary

The Director, UAD Professional and Leadership Development reports to the Vice President for University Advancement and, in collaboration with Human Resources, will provide leadership and oversight of the division's human resource and personnel matters.

Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

UAD Talent Acquisition and Retention

  • In collaboration with Human Resources, and in consultation with division senior leadership, conceptualize, manage and implement UAD recruitment and retention strategies.

  • In coordination with Talent Acquisition and Classification and Compensation, manage the UAD recruitment process, including oversight of job descriptions, advertisements, interview questions, assessments, search committee composition, and interview and travel schedules. With Talent Acquisition, draft initial employment offers.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to initiate background checks and perform reference checks. Utilize available resources to develop a marketing program that increases visibility and diversity of applicants to open UAD positions.

  • Develop, maintain and direct a comprehensive, integrated UAD orientation and onboarding program for new hires.

UAD Training & Professional Development

  • Conceptualize, manage and direct the implementation of a comprehensive training, professional and career development program for the division that addresses divisional specific initiatives, policies and practices that promote and foster divisional excellence; the enhancement of individual and team performance and effectiveness; staff engagement; professional growth and career advancement; and diversity, equity, and inclusion. In collaboration with the Staff Development Center, design and present appropriate training to the campus community regarding advancement initiatives

HR Liaison

  • Provide leadership as the division's HR representative and consult and collaborate with Human Resources around issues of classification and compensation, recruitment, payroll, and the performance evaluation process.

UAD Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Serve on the DEI Committee, perform duties related to assigned roles. In collaboration with the Diversity and Inclusion Manager in Human Resources, conceptualize and implement divisional diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives surrounding recruitment and retention and professional development, and provide assessment of reports on progress towards established division goals on DEI initiatives.


Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt, At-will, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2-3 years' experience managing HR functions.
  • Proven experience with systems and processes improvement and successfully implementing innovative solutions.
  • Working knowledge of California employment law and union regulations.

Salary

Anticipated Hiring Range: $7,083 - 7,917 per month

Classification Salary Range: $4,583 - $13,750 per month
