  • Department Summary

    Finance and Administrative Services (FAS) provides leadership, oversight, and stewardship for all aspects of the university's financial resources and serves as a strategic advisor to the senior leadership team and a collaborative partner to the CSUSB Community. FAS works closely with students, faculty, and staff while leading a broad range of finance and administrative functions, including the University Budget Office, Financial Services, Auxiliary Finance, Procurement, and Support Services. We strive for continuous improvement of our business processes and practices and encourage the professional development of our team members to meet the continuously evolving requirements of our constituents.

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, the AVP of Finance and Administrative Services will be a strategic partner to all things finance and administration. They will need to work collaboratively across departments in the University to assist in helping achieve University budget goals and ensure the mission of student success is at the forefront. They will be a key partner in presenting data and findings to various levels of leadership and stakeholders. This person will need to understand the different inflows of the budget and help to determine the best use of funds in various capacities around the University.

    The primary responsibilities, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for cash management, financial reporting, safeguarding University's assets, analyzing business practices, and making recommendations to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Supervise Financial Services, Procurement and Contracts, Support Services and University Budget Office, and manage the Division Technical Support, Finance Software Implementation Team, and the CSUSB Auxiliary Finance departments.
  • Prepare a financial plan and oversee the execution of state budget, including the planning and collection of campus revenue.
  • Assist five enterprise fund activities with their budgets and debt management.
  • Serve as the Assistant Treasurer of the foundation and attend meetings of the CSUSB Philanthropic Board of Directors
  • Provide business services to ensure enforcement of fiscal compliance, regulations and policies.


  • Employment Status: Full-time, At-Will, 'Exempt' position, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

    Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and PeopleSoft is highly beneficial.
  • Applicants must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse staff and student population.
  • Applicants must possess a high level of personal and professional integrity with an appreciation for the vision and values of higher education.
  • Applicants must have the ability to act decisively under changing conditions and identify technical solutions to complex processes.

  • Education and Experience
  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in business or a closely related field.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a finance/administrative function, along with extensive skill in goal setting, budget planning, and personnel management.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.

  • Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,250 - $16,555 per month

    Classification Salary Range: $6,250 - $18,750 per month
