Suffolk University is excited to announce a career opportunity as The Suffolk CARES Case Manager/ Coordinator!The Suffolk CARES Pantry Coordinator & Case Manager reports directly to the Director of Student Outreach & Support. The Suffolk CARES Pantry Coordinator & Case is a 10 or 12-month, full-time, professional position in the Student Affairs Office. The individual provides high-level support to students providing case management services and coordinates with appropriate campus offices.


RESPONSIBILITIIES & DUTIES

Suffolk CARES Pantry Operations

Oversees and coordinates efforts related to basic needs security, including but not limited to housing and food security. This person is responsible for the day to day supervision and oversight of the Suffolk CARES pantry; providing students with off campus resources, such as SNAP benefits and other government based programming; coordinating efforts with Suffolks food service provider to provide donated meal plan funds to those students in need; and providing overall support to those who are experiencing food insecurity. Ensure Graduate Fellows and student workers are trained in inventory procedures and assist Fellows in planning and executing programming related to the awareness of Suffolk CARES Pantry. Programming and outreach to the campus community is a large part of pantry operations in order to destigmatize the need for basic needs resources within the community.

Case Management

Provide direct student support by managing a case load of students and work closely with campus partners to provide resources so that students may become more academically successful. Empower students to become self-advocates and initiate change to advance their situations. Aid students in the created of success plans that encourage them to utilize their resources on campus. Follow through on student needs. Ensure the proper documentation of each student interaction by utilizing Maxient software for notetaking.

Marketing

Creates paper and web marketing that promotes both Suffolk CARES Program and Pantry. Provides oversight of the Suffolk CARES social media, including: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. Works directly with the Director to order appropriate give-a-ways for outreach to campus community.

Committee Work

Sits on CARE Team and provides bi-weekly updates to CARE Team. Other committees as assigned such as divisional Assessment, programming or development.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

    Master's degree in higher education preferred, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field. At least three years of progressively responsible work in Student Affairs. Knowledge of University mental health, health, and support resources in order to assist students in meeting their psychosocial needs. Strong knowledge of mental health, student advocacy, and crisis management. Demonstrated ability to provide administrative case management, including direct contact with students, family members and on and off-campus providers. Solid knowledge of student development theories to explain college student behavior, including psychosocial theories, cognitive/structural theories, and ecological and integrative theories. Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, decision making, conflict resolution, negotiation, counseling, referral techniques, and confidentiality. Ability to initiate, develop, implement, and market outreach programs and provide consultation services. Ability to communicate, engage, and develop rapport with individuals of diverse cultural, social, and religious backgrounds, and varied age, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, and military status. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills. Effective interpersonal and communication skills as demonstrated by a pronounced sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student body; demonstrated experience working with diverse student, faculty, staff and community populations and proven ability to create an inclusive and welcoming campus environment. Must be able to demonstrate respect and integrate cultural sensitivity when providing services. Demonstrated ability to research, write analytical reports, and make presentations on issues related to students and student behavior. Familiarity with electronic case management software and tracking systems. Ability to speak formally and informally and make prepared and extemporaneous presentations to individuals and groups in order to provide information, explain procedures, investigate facts, and persuade others. Extensive knowledge of student security and privacy requirements including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IX. Experience and familiarity with case management database/software is preferred. Ability to work evenings and weekends either on-line, scheduled or on-call if needed.
