Job Details

The Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. The position could start as early as January 2023. The School is CEPH-accredited with graduate-level research and education programs spanning seven departments: Environmental and Occupational Health; Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; Epidemiology; Exercise and Nutrition Sciences; Global Health; Health Policy and Management; and Prevention and Community Health.

About the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health: The Department occupies a unique position in academic public health education given its location in Washington, D.C. and the current national focus on healthcare, public health, and health policy. The Department’s faculty address pressing environmental and occupational health issues locally, nationally, and internationally, contributing to scholarship, education, policy, and practice in the field. The Department offers multiple degree programs at the masters and doctoral levels.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will build on the Department’s existing excellence, effectively manage its organizational structure, advance its research and academic capacity, mentor junior faculty and students, extend its interdisciplinary reach, and leverage the resources of the School and the University. 

Qualifications:  Applicants must be tenure-eligible at the rank of Professor with a track record of successful research, teaching, and service leadership experience. Applicants must also possess national or international prominence for their scholarship within the many environmental and occupational health disciplines.
