A Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university. Strong customer service skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, are a must. License/Certification Required Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Office of Student Financial Aid is to assist students and families in securing the financial resources necessary to attend college. The major activities of this unit include assisting students in completing required applications and meeting eligibility guidelines for various financial aid programs, evaluating all requests for eligibility, and administering all scholarships, grants, loans, and student work programs that are available to Appalachian students.

The Assistant Director of FA and Athletic Aid focuses on Student-Athlete needs.
This includes program administration for Athletic Grant-In-Aid. This staff member will have the responsibility of financial aid in coordination with the Athletics Compliance Office. They will be supported by the Sr. Associate Director of Financial Aid (or other appropriate staff).

While working with the Athletic office and coaching staff to ensure compliance with NCAA, Sun Belt (or applicable conference), federal student aid, state aid, and institutional regulations:
  • The incumbent will provide and maintain records and controls in conjunction with Athletic Compliance to ensure the appropriate aid levels are applied to each student-athlete.
  • The candidate will support the office in counseling students, parents, and other University partners regarding federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid eligibility;
  • Provide policy and procedure updates relative to programs and maintain appropriate documentation for tasks.
  • This position determines eligibility for and awards financial aid to students in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and private guidelines, policies, rules, and regulations; other administrative functions relating to awarding, certifying, and establishing eligibility for various federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
  • In carrying out the duties of this position, public speaking is often required in a variety of capacities.
  • This position will be required to attend night and weekend events as needed to support students.
  • This position may involve the supervision of temporary student employees.
