Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, the Equity and Inclusion Fellow will serve as the FAS Office for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (FAS ODIB) lead for the conduct and equity engagement project that is supported by the Conduct and Equity Engagement Working Group led by the Associate Dean. The Working Group advises the Associate Dean and the leadership of the FAS on models and approaches to addess concerns related to harassment, discrimination, bias, etc. for the entire FAS community.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 7 years professional experience OR an advanced degree with 5+ years of professional experience in a related field required.
  • Experience with diversity and/or inclusion and belonging efforts in large organizations, non-profits, or academic institutions.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Master’s and/or doctoral degrees in related field preferred (e.g., law, higher education administration, student affairs).
  • Preferred prior work experience within an academic setting or other compliance fields in the areas of DEI, Compliance, Ombuds training, Student Affairs, Law.
  • Experience in establishing objectives, leading training, logistics, and strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success building effective partnerships, credibility, rapport, and trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning projects from the “start-up” phase to an enduring project.

Position Description
  • Serve as the FAS ODIB lead conducting a comprehensive study of an approach to conduct, misconduct, and related concerns in collaboration with the Conduct and Equity Engagement Working Group and other relevant stakeholders (i.e., Office of Faculty Affairs, FAS Human Resources) to support the FAS in responding to concerns of harassment, discrimination, bias, and other related matters.
  • Gather benchmarking research and best practices of successful approaches at other institutions and establish metrics that serve as guideposts as to whether policies and practices are succeeding.
  • Gather data from the local level and conduct an ongoing needs assessment to inform the development and implementation of the conduct and equity engagement model.
  • Provide recommendations for coaching, best practices, and support at the local level across the FAS (i.e., train-the-trainer, facilitate dialogues and discussions, develop trainings and workshops, slide decks, etc.).
  • Develop an approach for FAS and departmental data analysis, report findings, and recommendations to measure institutional effectiveness of the conduct and equity engagement model.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and documentation of equity practices to ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Assist in the production of reports, internal and external documents, presentations, and briefs related to conduct and equity engagement to maintain consistent communication and transparency within the FAS community.
