Job Summary

As a member of the Drexel University Libraries' (DUL) Online Resources & Acquisitions team, the technician provides essential operational support for program staff and serves as the contact / communication point for online resource vendors regarding the Libraries online resource workflows. Reporting to the Online Resources & Acquisitions Librarian and contributing to a highly matrixed team, the technician supports workflows that include "intent to renew" decisions, license renewal, changes in collection / package (e.g., availability and holdings), changes in vendor processes and access, and usage data gathering.

Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoot issues with online resource access reported by clients and staff and communicate technical support requests to vendors and provide routing proactive and responsive maintenance of online resource access points and holdings data; Monitor and respond to client queries via online Library Assistance chat as assigned
  • Triage incoming messages and workflow timelines, provide regular status reports and monitor the schedule for renewals and invoice payment deadlines and communicate with staff and vendors regarding online resource acquisition / renewal decisions
  • Compile and report information resource usage data
  • Assist with acquisition of online resources and acquisition and receiving of print resources
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and continually review workflows to maintain and improve efficiency and quality of operations; As assigned schedule, train, and direct student workers, serve as Manager on Duty at DUL service desks, and serve as a member of Libraries' Essential Services on-site team
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Possess initiative, attention to detail and good judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and adapt to new technologies
  • Experience with MS Office suite
  • Able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment in a dynamic matrixed work setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a library or with an information resource vendor/publisher
  • Experience with library management systems and applications such as Ex Libris Alma Library Services Platform
Physical Demands
  • Typically sitting at a desk/table
  • Lifting demands ≤ 25lbs
