Position Announcement

Further the mission of Utah Tech University (UT) and the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) through promoting the university, recruiting students, and supporting the local community through K-12 educational and public service partnerships. Engage faculty, staff, and students to create engaging, hands-on experiences creating, building, making, hacking, programming, designing, etc. Manage operations of the K-12 STEM Outreach Center in the Atwood Innovation Plaza.   • Lead and oversee the creation and delivery of hands-on learning events and activities with students of all ages. Such training events/experiences could include, but are not limited to, after school programs (Scratch, Python, LEGO® Robotics, STEM Academy, etc.), Summer Camps/Programs (CodeSchool, Engineering Camp, STEM Girls, eSMART, Utah Tech PREP, etc.), and Events (Code Camp, First Lego League, University events, etc.).
  • Establish policies and guidelines for the management of programs and staff, analyze and evaluate for effectiveness, develop short and long-range strategic plans, plan and execute concurrent events, programs, camps, and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other Utah Tech colleges, centers, and departments. Build and maintain associations and partnerships with other universities, K-12 schools/districts, industry representatives, government agencies, and community and national organizations.
  • Supervise student interns and support personnel.
  • Lead out and initiate fundraising efforts for program outreach. Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Development Office to identify funding partnerships and write grant proposals.
  • Oversee the program budget and financial resources from a variety of funding sources. Submit and manage an annual budget.
  • Coordinate with college faculty discipline specialists to create an event plan, manage event budgets, coordinate event personnel, schedule venues and facilities, manage guest and invitation lists, design/order/send invitations and other promotional materials, direct and/or supervise event staff during events, and develop new events.
  • Coordinate with University Marketing & Communications in promoting the college through events, promotions, marketing, PR campaigns, and associated duties. This includes managing event promotional materials such as SWAG, signage, invitations, and event rental equipment; managing conference booth requested materials, meetings with clients to consult on events, coordinating marketing materials, and participating in community meetings, presentations, and events to promote the college.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or a STEM-related field required, with preference given to degrees (whether Master’s or undergraduate) in computing, math, engineering, or biotechnology.
  • At least two years' related experience in event planning and leadership required; experience in coding or design preferred.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time constraints, while remaining positive, with a broad spectrum of customers.
  • Ability to switch between tasks effectively, while operating with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively work ahead planning events, reporting, budgeting, marketing, scheduling, etc.
  • Must have a passion for sharing SET careers and possibilities with others, with an ability to work with youth of all ages who participate in SET events and activities.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of technology, including social media, email, photography, video, design, marketing, and effective communication mediums.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as good problem solving and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $63,000+ depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of August 2022.
